A prominent newspaper columnist calls for the American people to rise up and resist
I firmly believe We the People have no choice but to rise up and resist Donald Trump’s effort to destroy our government. He wants to replace it with a dictatorship in which he is the supreme ruler.
I am not alone in believing it’s time for resistance.

David Brooks, longtime columnist for the New York Times, has called for a comprehensive American civic uprising. Brooks is an old-school conservative. He’s one of the Republican Never-Trumpers.
In a column condemning Donald Trump’s insane effort to seize total control of America, Brooks wrote:
“What is happening now is not normal politics. We’re seeing an assault on the fundamental institutions of our civic life, things we should all swear loyalty to — Democrat, independent or Republican.”
Brooks contends Trump wants complete power over the nation, no matter what it takes:
“If there’s one through-line in this Administration so far, it’s the amassing of power. And if there’s another strategy through-line through this Administration, it’s the destruction of anything that might restrain power.”

In his call for a national civic uprising, Brooks doesn’t specify what form it should take.
Others are suggesting a series of nationwide strikes. Not just one strike: strikes plural.

In less than 100 days, Donald Trump, our emperor-wannabe, has disrupted American life in countless ways. We need to disrupt his world—in a very big way.
